The Start

Finally, I’ve gotten around to creating a blog, that I aim to write on at least once a week. I’ve decided that if I set a target like that, then I might actually stick to it this year!

Firstly, let me introduce myself. I’m Rich, and these are to be my musings, thoughts, and stories about my affiliate marketing / web journey. As it stands, I’ve been trying to achieve any form of success for around 2 and a bit years now, and I’m still struggling. I don’t know why, but I think that part of the problem is that I get sidetracked too easily!

Back in October 2008 I was lucky enough to win a ticket to the Affiliates 4 U expo down in London, as a result of a competition on Kirsty’s blog. I made some great acquaintances, and have kept in touch since. However, I’ve not really capitalised on what I learnt or the networking that I did, and I feel it’s gone to waste.

Since then, I’ve also been lucky enough to have been given tickets to the prestigious A4U Awards in London, by Helen (owner of theitguide.co.uk), and still I failed to capitalise on it. Helen, if you’re reading this, I will repay you for those tickets one day!

I’ve purchased domains for a lot more than the normal Nominet fee, and sold them for many times more, and have sold a few products for merchants earning myself some small commissions, but to date, my affiliate earnings stand in the low 3-figure region.

My aims for this blog are to try and give myself some focus, and to get myself into a regular work habit, so that 2011 is my year! Hopefully I will motivate people along the way too, and even if I just help one person, then I’ll be happy.

Any tips or inspirational ideas will be gratefully received!
