Book Review – Get Out While You Can

Part of the reason that I’m actually keeping on top of this blog so far this year (normally I manage about 2 posts and then give up as no-one visits it!) is a book that I have just finished reading. It’s written by another UK web entrepreneur George Marshall, and it is called Get Out While You Can. It’s available from Amazon (affiliate link, well, I’ve gotta try!) for around £11.50 (the RRP is £14.99, but you get about a small discount off that with Amazon).

I’ve spoken to George since reading it, and given him my feedback, but thought I’d share it with my new blog readers too, especially as it’s relevant to the UK market, rather than being yet another typical ‘get rich quick scheme’.

Having received it just before the new year, I managed to get through the book in about 4/5 days, which is good going for me, and testament to the fact that the book was an interesting read.

The book felt a little slow to begin with, with the first half of it almost seeming to say the same thing over and over. However, it did get across the points that it was trying to make very well! The book was an easy read, especially as George’s style of writing is so natural and was almost like having a conversation with him (or at least what I’d expect it to be like, if I ever meet him).

Despite being critical above, I have to completely switch opinion now, and point out that the second half of the book went far too quickly! I really enjoyed the ‘live’ examples, and seeing figures, as I find case-studies a lot more inspirational and motivating than simple proof of concept paragraphs of text. Since finishing the book I’ve managed to sell a domain that I bought a couple of years ago for mid 4-figures, giving me my first ever ‘millionaire day’!

There is a section in the book on setting up WordPress for use with affiliate sites, but it’s not really relevant to me as I’m already happy with that area. Having said that, it would be great for a beginner, as it’s often the technical side that causes people to get stuck. Myself, I find the creative side the hardest!

All in all, it’s a great book, that certainly did not disappoint, but it could do with a few more pages of examples, and continuing the train of thought that George has started!

I would definitely recommend this to any UK affiliates – for just over a tenner, it’s worth a read.

I should probably add that this post isn’t a sponsored post, or paid for in any way – it’s purely that the book has spurred me on to get this blog going, and to start becoming a more active affiliate, rather than being a lazy one! I’ve included the Amazon affiliate link above, rather cheekily, but I’ve got to pay for my hosting somehow haha!

Please change your font, it’s so difficult to read it’s almost unbearable, maybe thats why no-one reads your blog!

Oops, sorry – changed. I was literally just in the process of applying a theme and had set the font by mistake. First impressions count and I appreciate that I’ve messed that one up! :) Is it better now?

Really appreciated a honest review of this book, as my friend who has also read many similar books, is currently reading ti and feeling motivated already; hence passing the title of the book to me to read. I wanted an honest review and feel yours is the best, most informative and genuine review post/blog I have read, so thank you for that and congratulations on the sale of your domain :-) I hope you continue to be motivated and active in your future.
