Affiliate Aims 2011

Ok, so it’s the start of a new year (even if we are already a few days into it, but what’s a few days when you have 365 of them?), and traditionally we all make new years resolutions. Of course, this being an affiliate oriented blog (although I’m sure there will be some non-affiliate content too!), I thought I’d better try and at least set myself some goals for 2011. I’m going to try and make sure that they are SMART ones too (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely, although definitions of the acronym do vary).

1. Utilise at least 6 of the atomic niches domains that I’ve purchased in recent months.
To do this, I will set up small static HTML sites, and list just a few products on each. As each of the sites that I have in mind are related to the experience day niche, listing just a few products is quite straightforwards, and I hope to work with just a couple of merchants. For each site, I will host them all on the same server.

2. Learn how to link build ‘properly’, and put this to use on the atomic sites.
Rather than relying upon blog comments, or profile links which I now know are spammy, I will learn how to write content that is valuable not only to search engines but to users as well, so that it gets linked to.

3.  Develop a major niche site, in an area that I have knowledge and passion.
This will have to come over the course of the year, once I have learnt the basics from the atomic sites!

4. Aim for a regular monthly income of £500 (after tax/NI/etc) by the end of 2011.
I think that this is achievable and realistic as for some of the atomic niches that I am going to target, I will be looking at a commission per sale of around ¬£10, so that’s only 50 in total per month!

I know there’s only a few targets there, but there is no point in going overboard and setting targets that I know very well will never be met!
